A search has been going on since Saturday for a missing ex-couple from Italy. The young woman’s father fears that something has been done to his daughter. The search has now been expanded to Carinthia because the car was spotted here.
According to investigators, the Fiat Punto of the 22-year-old engineering student, who disappeared together with his ex-girlfriend Giulia, crossed the Austrian border for the first time in Tarvisio on Sunday. The vehicle was said to have been located in Carinthia two days ago, Italian media reported. The Italian police have already informed their Austrian colleagues. It is feared that the young man murdered his Giulia and fled in his car. It cannot be ruled out that he is holding her against her will.
Despite the divorce, contact continued
The man he was looking for picked up his ex-girlfriend late Saturday afternoon from her hometown of Vigonovo in the province of Venice. The two students dated for a year and a half before breaking up last summer. However, contact between them never completely ended.
The two were seen at a mall around 8 p.m. and the student sent a final message to her sister at 10:43 p.m. The Italian’s mobile phone was last found around 11 p.m. in the municipality of Fossó, not far from where the young woman lives.
On Sunday, both families finally reported the missing person to the carabinieri. A witness reportedly saw the two arguing and alerted the police. When they arrived the car was already gone. Giulia’s father does not rule out that something happened to his daughter.
