A then 18-year-old allegedly seduced a 12-year-old girl via WhatsApp to perform sexual acts on herself, record them on video and send them to him. The now 21-year-old stood before the judge on Friday and confessed.
The suspect was charged at the Steyr Regional Court with serious sexual abuse of minors and the crime of pornographic representation of minors.
Two charges
The suspect – 18 years old at the time of the crime – allegedly asked his victim, a twelve-year-old girl, via WhatsApp to record a video of her performing sexual acts. This is what lies behind the accusation of sexual abuse. Because the suspect subsequently received the video and had it in his possession, he was also charged with pornographic representation of minors.
The two have never had personal contact. The crime is said to have taken place purely via the app.
A judgement
The suspect made a full confession at the hearing. The sentence that has now become final: a five-month suspended prison sentence, with a probationary period of three years. In addition, the 21-year-old must receive probation and therapy. In addition to his confession, the fact that some of the crimes remained an attempt also had a mitigating effect.
