An unknown person stood in front of the glass facade of the swimming pool on Salzburger Alpenstrasse for almost fifteen minutes and watched a school class. A mother chased him away. She demands privacy protection: “This is an invitation for pedophiles.”
He was wearing a hooded jacket and strolling along the sidewalk on Alpine Road. The stranger stopped in front of the glass facade of the AYA indoor pool and took out a tablet. The man stared – initially unnoticed – at a group of second graders. The children of a primary school in Salzburg completed their weekly swimming course. “At first I didn’t think anything of it. At a certain point it got scary,” said Stephanie Mondre, mother of a student.
The man stood in front of the glass for almost 15 minutes. “Nobody did anything,” the mother says indignantly. Together with a lifeguard, Mondre managed to chase the shady man away. “We sharply threatened him with the police.”
Mother wrote an email to the mayor
The incident happened a few days ago, but the young mother can’t let it go. “The wide glass windows of the bathroom, which are directly on the street side, are a real invitation for pedophiles,” growls the Salzburg resident.
She wrote an email to Mayor Harald Preuner (ÖVP). Mondre requires that the inside of the glass front be covered with a special foil. This would mean that the swimming pool would no longer be visible from the street. The swimmers would still be able to see outside. “I am a trained painter. “It doesn’t cost the earth,” says Mondre firmly.
The mother has already received an answer. “We have forwarded your understandable concern to the responsible authority,” it said succinctly. Mondre: “I’m not satisfied with that.”
