Wild scenes probably took place on Saturday afternoon in a tobacco shop in Scharnitz (Innsbruck-Land district). Two masked men threatened the operator and stole several thousand euros. There is currently no trace of the suspects.
Shortly after 6 p.m., a previously unknown man robbed a tobacconist in Scharnitz. The perpetrator had a plastic mask on his head and was armed with a machete and pepper spray. He threatened the tobacconist’s operator and demanded he hand over money. A second perpetrator stood outside and ‘acted as a watchdog’, police confirmed.
The perpetrators managed to escape unnoticed. Fortunately, the victims were not injured. However, they received a shock. The unknown persons stole several thousand euros.

One of the men was between 1.70 and 1.80 meters tall, slim and wearing dark clothing, a black sweater and dark trousers. The second was also a man, was shorter than his accomplice and wore a wine-red sweater.

“The previously unknown perpetrator was covered in a Halloween mask and demanded money in English from the business owners, a 66-year-old man and a 58-year-old woman,” investigators said. After the attack, both suspects fled towards Scharnitz Dorf. The Tyrolean State Police has activated an alarm search. Several patrols, the National Criminal Investigation Bureau, the Cobra and the SIG were in action.
The German police were also alerted and searched with several patrols. “As part of the alarm search, a jacket was found near the crime scene, which probably belonged to the perpetrators,” the researchers said. The LKA Tirol has taken over the case and the investigation is in full swing.
