Three people drowned on the beaches of the autonomous community of Valencia on Saturday. Among the dead was a 43-year-old man from Austria. He wanted to save his wife who was trapped by the waves.
According to the internet portal antena3, the Austrian tried to rescue his wife from the water on the beach of Moncayo in Alicante. Before attempting his rescue, rescue services would have warned the man that the risk of drowning himself was too great. Later, the paramedics were unable to do anything to help the 43-year-old.
Two more victims
According to information, two more people have died. An adult and a minor. The adult also allegedly tried to rescue a boy who couldn’t make it to shore. This time in the La Penyeta district on the Carrer la Mar city beach in El Campello. Both victims are said to have died.
The Ministry of Foreign Affairs has not yet been able to confirm the Austrian’s accident.
