On Friday evening, 24 residents had to be brought to safety from a residential building in Völs in the Tyrolean district of Innsbruck-Land. The Crown reported there was a fire on the fifth floor. The cause of the fire has now been determined.
The sirens sounded in Völs around 9:45 p.m. When the Floriani disciples arrived, flames were already shooting out the window and threatening to spread to the apartment above. Firefighters entered the apartment using breathing apparatus and fought the flames. Three residents subsequently had to be taken to Hall Hospital. The remaining residents escaped the shock.
Technical failure as the cause
Experts conducted an investigation this weekend to determine the cause of the fire. It is now clear how the fire started. “According to the current state of affairs, it can be assumed that the cause is a technical problem in the bedroom,” it said.
The apartment was a total loss.
