Prison sentences were imposed on Tuesday on a 43-year-old from Burgenland and a 21-year-old from Lower Austria in an abuse trial at the Eisenstadt regional court, behind closed doors to the public. The man sexually abused his sisters, daughters and two small children.
The man measures less than 1.70 meters. If he didn’t hide his face behind a folder and be led through the court in handcuffs by prison guards, he could probably still be classified as ‘fairly normal’.
But what lies behind the inconspicuous appearance can hardly be put into words: the Viennese abused his sister, his half-sister, the first daughter and also the second. As if that wasn’t enough, he also sexually abused two small children.
Administered drugs and lack of will
And then there he is, after eleven months in custody, and it almost seems as if 43-year-old Roman O. can’t cloud things. The co-suspect is a 21-year-old woman from Lower Austria, who not only took part in the perverse games, but also involved her daughter. The girl was three years old at the time. We are now talking about administered medications. Of lack of will. Of vague memories.
Test with camera
It is also questionable why the prosecutor had excluded the public before her plea. The chairman of the lay court, Birgit Falb, justified the exclusion with “a young adult at the time” and “with the privacy of the victims”, even though they were not heard yesterday. They entrusted their statements to the police.
Terrible events took place in the south of Burgenland
The place of the disgusting incidents was the Viennese grandmother’s house in the south of Burgenland. The casual worker convinced his eldest daughter that you could make money with videos on the Internet. Something would be lost for them too. It shouldn’t just be about lustful shots. With the second defendant, a friend of this daughter, the man went one step further: he convinced the young woman that a three-year-old child ‘would not understand what was happening at that age’. Just the thought leaves you speechless.
After eight hours of negotiations and an explanation of the report by court psychiatrist Peter Hofmann, the verdicts were reached: the man was placed in an institution for eight years, the woman had to spend two years behind bars. The Public Prosecution Service has appealed against the latter.
