A serious accident took place in Vienna-Leopoldstadt on Monday afternoon, resulting in one death. An ÖBB employee (46) got stuck between two trains and was literally crushed. However, it was not just an industrial accident in Vienna that day.
The 46-year-old and his 30-year-old colleague were currently working in the 2nd arrondissement. The 46-year-old became trapped on the train when a carriage rolled backwards.
Resuscitation fails
All help came too late for him. Despite immediate resuscitation measures, the emergency physician was only able to determine death.
A similar incident in the center of Vienna
Later in the evening there was also an industrial accident during the extension work on the U2 line. Two construction workers who were in a construction pit there were hit by falling shotcrete.
Both men were taken to hospital with serious injuries.
