A massive fish kill in the Raab near Gleisdorf in Styria is a cause for concern: fisherman Josef Petz discovered several hundred dead fish and the fire brigade collected the carcasses on Monday. The cause is still unclear, the chemical emergency service was on.
Gleisdorf’s supervising fisherman Josef Petz made a disturbing and sad discovery on Sunday during a routine round: in the Raab, above the articulated weir of Gleisdorf, he discovered several hundred dead fish.
The Gleisdorf fire brigade also called for this on Monday: the Florianis went out on the water with zills and collected the carcasses. It is still unclear why the fish died. Weiz District Chemical Emergency Service is on call, lab results are still pending.
Supervising fisherman Petz will not comment on any assumptions now: “We are now awaiting official investigations and will continue to monitor the area closely.”
