After the explosion of a car on Wednesday at the border between the US and Canada, authorities do not suspect an act of terrorism. It will take a while to find out exactly what happened, New York Governor Kathy Hochul said.
As reported, two passengers in the car were killed and a border guard was injured in the explosion (see video above). Investigators have ruled out a bomb as the cause, but the possibility of a terrorist attack is not yet completely off the table, Hochul said. Police said initial indications did not indicate an intentional attack.

According to reports from eyewitnesses, witnesses and law enforcement agencies, a car crashed into the bridge, went out of control, burst into flames and fell off the bridge. CNN reported that the vehicle approached from the US side of the border and accelerated. It then hit a curb and flew into the air before catching fire and exploding.
Airport closed
Following the incident, Buffalo International Airport was temporarily closed to all international flights. In New York City, security measures have been strengthened at several locations, Mayor Eric Adams said.
The explosion occurred at a time of growing global security concerns over the war in the Middle East and on the eve of Thanksgiving. This is the highlight of traveling in the United States. As a precaution, authorities have closed the border crossing and three other crossings between New York and Ontario indefinitely.
