Dramatic scenes took place on Sunday morning in the Swiss canton of Graunbünden, which borders Vorarlberg. A father who went fishing with his son caught his rod or hook in the power line, causing the 55-year-old to be fatally electrocuted.
The 55-year-old man set out with his son early in the morning in the municipality of Poschiavo to fish in the Val Pednal stream, where the two were fishing in opposite directions.
At around 8 am when they met in the Clev area, the son found his father lying on the floor.
Died on the spot
He immediately provided first aid and relatives alerted the Rega Air Rescue Service. Despite CPR measures, the 55-year-old died at the scene.
According to the initial findings of the Graubünden canton police, the man had hit the high-voltage cable when casting the line with the fishing rod or hook and suffered a fatal electric shock.
