In Euskadi, of every 100 euros that we spend on fruit, vegetables or meat, only 22 of these come from products from the Basque Autonomous Community. The rest of the goods we buy come to us from other autonomous communities of the state (63 euros) or the rest of the world (15 euro).
A fact that is even more accentuated in the case of fish and seafood what do we buy. Only 10% The fish is caught in the Basque Autonomous Community. We receive 51% of what we acquire from the rest of the state, and the remaining 39% of what we consume from different parts of the world.
And according to EITB Data, own production of agricultural and fishery products is less than 25% of what the Basque economy needs. The difference is imported from other autonomous communities or other countries, leading to: increasingly diverse range of productsand that does not occur in our area.
