After the turnaround in the murder case Oberwaltersdorf (Lower Austria), the “Krone” now knows the first details about the background of the bloody deed in the Baden district. It wasn’t until Thursday that the 64-year-old husband made an elaborate confession after investigators offered him the murder weapon.
On August 24, the news of another murder of a woman shocked not only the Oberwaltersdorf municipality in the Baden district. Another woman died in cruel circumstances. And as is so often the case, the suspected perpetrator is his own husband. After weeks of silence and countless lies, the 64-year-old suspect now confessed to killing his wife with a chisel, the “Krone” reported. He stabbed the 57-year-old about ten times with a knife.
“In the affect”, emphasizes his lawyer Manfred Arbacher-Stöger together with lawyer Michael Dohr. The crime was not planned well in advance. “In this case, the circumstances play a major role. That is why we are not arguing for murder, but for manslaughter,” he explains to the “Krone”. In the presence of his lawyers, the 64-year-old now put the facts on the table: “Yes, I killed my wife”, he finally gave in tears. He had not planned the act: he lost control and struck her head several times in blind rage with a chisel. It was only when he saw his dead wife lying in front of him that he realized what had happened.
First details come to light
On the morning of August 24, the 64-year-old went for a jog. When he got home, the situation finally escalated. The 64-year-old wants to make advances with his loved ones. But things turned out differently: after the suspect had already signed all his wife’s belongings – including the house they shared – she now threatened to revoke his right of residence. Then he picked up the chisel and stabbed.
It wasn’t until he noticed the blood on his hands that he came up with a plan to fake a break-in. In a nearby forest he got rid of the murder weapon. He then alerted the rescue team and tried to resuscitate his wife, who was already dead.
Long-term marital problems
The suspect spins a web of humiliation, lengthy arguments and marital problems about the background of the crime. Some disagreements are said to have led to tensions between the spouses for several days. While there was no impending separation or divorce, it was inevitable.
On Thursday, when he received the previously found chisel with the bloodstains from his wife, he finally made an elaborate confession.
