A major alarm went off at the Vienna fire brigade on Thursday evening. A tram collided with a taxi at Julius-Raab-Platz. The Florianis had to do extensive work to secure the damaged hybrid vehicle.
On Thursday evening around 7.50 pm, the Wiener Linien asked the professional fire brigade for help. A tram on line 1 collided with a car. According to an initial report, several people were injured. The Florianis therefore went to the scene of the accident with eight vehicles and thirty men.
Fire extinguishing line and “airbag spider”
When we arrived at Julius-Raab-Platz, the signal was quickly given. Only one person on site was slightly injured. The badly damaged taxi, on the other hand, had to be protected by a fire extinguishing line, as it was a hybrid vehicle. According to chief firefighter Christian Feiler, the airbag had not deployed: an ‘airbag spider’ was pulled over the steering wheel.
After the accident was registered by the police, the car was lifted from the track back onto the road using a grabber. Although no batteries in the car were damaged, the power fuses were removed for safety reasons.
