According to Kyrylo Budanov, head of the main intelligence division of the Ukrainian Defense Ministry, there was an attempt to assassinate Vladimir Putin shortly after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine. “It was a failed attempt, but it really happened,” it says.
According to the head of the Ukrainian secret service, Budanov, the Kremlin head survived an assassination attempt in March: “There was an assassination attempt on Putin (…) He is said to have been attacked not so long ago. This is not- public information. (It was an) absolutely failed attempt, but it really happened (…)”
“It’s been about two months. I repeat, this attempt was not successful. The public was not aware of this event, but it took place,” continued Budanov.
Killers from the Caucasus Region
The newspaper Ukrainska Pravda also reports that Budanov said representatives from the Caucasus were trying to kill Putin. The Caucasus includes Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia, and parts of southern Russia.
Political end “in five to eight months”
The Kremlin boss himself recently claimed that he had evaded numerous assassination attempts. Russia expert and investigative journalist Christo Grozev sees the political end of Russian ruler Vladimir Putin in “five to eight” months.
