In fact, it should have been an ordinary walk for an 85-year-old wheelchair user and his 68-year-old companion on Sunday in Carinthia. But the journey ended very tragically: The 85-year-old fell from his wheelchair and died. The prosecutor ordered an autopsy.
The 68-year-old from Villach visited the 85-year-old man from Hermagor on Sunday. As so often, the two went for a walk. As a car approached on a local road and the team turned around, the wheelchair suddenly started to move and fell over the embankment.
Rescue called immediately
The 85-year-old fell from his wheelchair and remained motionless in the ditch. The 65-year-old companion immediately rushed to help the victim and set the rescue chain in motion. The emergency doctor rushed to help, and the crew of the rescue helicopter “C7” immediately began resuscitation measures – but in vain, the 85-year-old died at the scene of the accident.
Because the notified doctor could not establish a clear cause of death, the public prosecutor of Klagenfurt ordered an autopsy. This should happen on Tuesday.
