A 34-year-old from St. Pankraz in Upper Austria had a snow plow driver as a guardian angel in the early hours of Saturday morning. The man drove off the snow-covered road and ended up with his car in a ditch. The snow plow driver discovered the crashed car a short time later.
It was around 4:20 am when the plow driver, who happened to be passing by, noticed tracks along the winter road leading away from the road. Shortly afterwards he discovered a car lying on its side in the ditch. He immediately called the rescuers.
Icy temperatures
The 34-year-old was in the small panel van, which had previously driven on Pyhrnpass Straße B 138 in St. Pankraz and had left the winter road for reasons that are still unclear.
He first crashed his vehicle into the railing of a bridge, fell into the ditch below and came to rest on its side. The man was taken to hospital by ambulance personnel with unknown injuries. It’s hard to imagine what would have happened if the snowplow driver hadn’t noticed the 34-year-old; it was winter temperatures.
