On this day, the factory workers held a 24-hour strike. Now they assure that they have nothing left but ‘confrontation’ to get their demands met in the face of ‘corporate immobility’.
The ELA and LAB unions have announced that “in light of the immobility of the company” Amazon Trapagaran staff will return at Christmas to strike in defense of negotiations on their own workforce agreement.
As both unions said in a press release, Amazon workers staged the first 24-hour strike a year ago to coincide with Cyber Monday, and a year later they assure that their demands have not been resolved.
“365 days after that historic day, we are forced to return to the fight due to the company’s lack of will to negotiate,” they say. “We have been patient, we have been willing to engage in dialogue during meetings that have meant nothing but a waste of time and in which the answer obtained has always been the same: they have no intention of negotiating,” they add to.
For this reason, they announce that they will strike again this Christmas and call on society to support their struggle in which they “demand from the giant something as fundamental as his own agreement that fits our reality.”
“We are faced with a multinational that is eager to increase its profits astronomically at the expense of our insecurity and health, but we are not about to give up.” Their disregard for dialogue and negotiation, disguised as cordiality, does not allow us any other way out than confrontation,” they say.
