Last week a “black” series of accidents took place at level crossings in Upper Austria. A car crashed into a traffic light at such an intersection on Wednesday evening. Fortunately, no one was injured in the accident, but there were delays in train traffic.
For unknown reasons, a driver lost control of his car and crashed into the traffic light pole of a level crossing in Thalheim near Wels. Contrary to initial reports, fortunately no one was trapped in the vehicle and the car did not immediately come to a stop on the circuit.
Track replacement service for trains
No one was injured in the accident, the fire brigade secured the accident scene and recovered the heavily damaged Audi. However, the Almtalbahn was closed for about an hour and the last trains of the day were replaced by replacement rail services.
