Trial in Feldkirch – Major drama after the threat of divorce

Now the Austrian with Turkish roots is back in court and risks another criminal conviction. Nothing unusual. Because there are already ten entries on the criminal record. Still, he asks chairman Silke Sandholzer for a “second chance”. And he will receive that at the end of the trial in the form of an unconditional prison sentence of 18 months. A “bargain”: the law provides for a penalty range of up to four years in prison for committing dangerous threats.

Emotional emergency
The shift worker is accused in two cases. When his wife told him she wanted to divorce him on October 4, the 36-year-old initially drowned his pain in alcohol. He claims he drank 24 beers on the banks of the Bregenzer Ache. In this emotional state of emergency, he writes a number of WhatsApp messages to his mother. In it he threatens to kill his wife and cut off her head. He also sends a video of him at the Bregenzer Ache.

The family is concerned about their daughter-in-law and warns the potential victim so she can get to safety. Meanwhile, the frustrated swallowing woodpecker channels his aggression in front of a grocery store in Kennelbach. There he attacks a family man who is completely foreign to him with a kitchen knife. “He came to me, took out the knife and said, next time I will kill you.” Shortly afterwards, the attacker was arrested and taken to Feldkirch prison.

Mild guilty verdict
During the trial, the suspect stated that he could no longer remember the crimes. Only the knife remained in his memory. But he would have kept that in his own face, not in the victim’s face. And as for the term ‘murksen’, it is not in his vocabulary. “But I must have said something already.” Finally, the suspect apologizes for his actions, promises to improve, and ultimately fights back tears as the judge hands down the guilty verdict.
