A man from Innviertel was in a coma for seven weeks after a serious work accident, but is still fighting his way back to life. His wife is now concerned about their dream home, as the couple was in the process of building an apartment when disaster struck. Now everything is in danger.
On September 14, the world collapsed for Stefanie (52). The woman from Innviertel received the news that her husband Tino (58) had a serious accident at work. The truck driver fell while loading. He suffered a traumatic brain injury with three hemorrhages and numerous broken bones in his face.
“He was in a coma for seven weeks. We then celebrated our twelfth wedding anniversary. “I didn’t know if he would even survive,” says Stefanie desperately. The Innviertel resident is used to worries and has been through a lot.
Treated in four hospitals
In recent years she has survived two bouts of cancer and two back surgeries, leaving her 70 percent disabled; her husband has always been by her side. And now she is by his side. Tino has now been treated in four hospitals and has been at the Neuromed campus in Linz since Tuesday. Stefanie visits him as often as she can. And at the same time she tries to realize her shared life dream.
In the middle of the construction of an apartment
“Last year we started building an apartment,” she says. But money became scarce due to general inflation. They took a break, but wanted to move in this winter. That’s up in the air now. It is virtually impossible for the couple to get a loan. “Despite my limitations, I am now busy preparing the apartment,” says the now desperate resident of Innviertel.
Christmas in the new apartment
“I’m starting to not know what to do anymore. We are having problems with the bank and the private insurance has not paid out anything yet. “But I urgently need to buy a heat pump so that we can heat the apartment,” says the 52-year-old.
