Confusion over family – Israel: 137 hostages still held

Date:

According to an Israeli government spokesperson, 137 hostages are still being held by Hamas in the Gaza Strip. Seven people are still missing since the terrorist organization’s attack. The fate of a mother and her two young sons also keeps Israel in suspense.

The remaining hostages in the Gaza Strip include 115 men, 20 women and two children, spokesman Eylon Levy said Friday afternoon. The Israeli government also counts a woman and her two sons who were reportedly killed by the Islamist Hamas a few days ago.

However, according to a military spokesperson, her death has not been confirmed. Hamas had claimed they had been killed in Israeli attacks; the Israeli military then said it would check the credibility of the statements.

Hamas has not only kidnapped Israelis
According to Levy, the hostages included 126 Israelis and 11 foreigners. The foreigners are eight Thais and one citizen each from Nepal and Tanzania. One hostage also has French and Mexican citizenship. According to the families, eight Israeli hostages also have German passports.

According to Levy, seven people are still missing since the Hamas massacre on October 7. Terrorists from Hamas and other groups had attacked Israel and caused a massacre in the border area. About 1,200 people were murdered, most of them civilians. The identification of all bodies continues eight weeks later.

So far, 105 hostages have been released
About 240 people were kidnapped in the Gaza Strip that day. Last week, 105 hostages were released during a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas. In return, Israel released 240 Palestinian prisoners from Israeli prisons.

Four women and one female soldier had already been released in recent weeks.
