About 160 takeoffs and landings at Munich Airport were canceled due to weather conditions. The reasons for this were snowfall and low temperatures at the airport, a spokesperson said on Friday.
At least one runway must always remain free. The lanes are cleared alternately. Passengers are asked to contact their airline for information regarding possible cancellations.
The snowfall continues
As it is expected to snow permanently until Saturday according to the German Weather Service (DWD), the airport expects further cancellations – 40 centimeters of new snow is expected.
A Lufthansa flight to Munich, which was due to depart in the early evening, was canceled at Vienna Airport in Schwechat on Friday.
Others affected include Lufthansa flights to Berlin (5 p.m.) and Hamburg (5 p.m. 10 a.m.). Also cancelled: flights to Basel, Toulouse, Gdansk, Stuttgart, Luxembourg, London or Dresden.
