Snowy road – truck skidded and crashed head-on into a car

Date:

Because the road was slippery due to snow, a truck slid into the oncoming lane and collided with a car. A truck following him was unable to avoid the accident and collided with the victims.

A convoy of six trucks drove on the B137 from Grieskirchen towards Schärding shortly before 8 a.m. on Friday. It happened as it should. On the snow-covered road, the first truck, driven by a 36-year-old Bosnian from the Grieskirchen district in the Basling area, municipality of Andorf, suddenly skidded and crashed into the oncoming vehicle.

Head-on into a car
There he collided with the oncoming car, driven by a 35-year-old from Andorf. Both vehicles came to a stop on the other side of the road. Despite immediate emergency braking by the 52-year-old driver of the following truck, he was unable to avoid a collision with the first truck and collided with it.

The 36-year-old and the 35-year-old were injured to an unspecified degree and were taken to Schärding and Ried im Innkreis hospitals after emergency medical treatment.

Crashed into a snow shovel
The onset of winter also claimed its victims in Mühlviertel. A 22-year-old from the Urfahr-Raum district was doing snow clearing work in Feldkirchen an der Donau around 9:50 am. The snow shovel mounted on the tractor was sticking out into the road. At the same time, a 67-year-old drove his car from the B131 towards Feldkirchen. The two vehicles collided, leaving the 67-year-old with unknown injuries. After initial treatment he was admitted to the UKH Linz.
