Even weeks after the Hamas massacre in Israel, new reports of brutal sexual violence against women and girls continue to come to light. Many of them are very disturbing.
According to dpa, a helper from Zaka’s rescue service told a special parliamentary committee about the horror that awaited him in a border town on October 7: “The corpse of a woman, naked, with a sharp object stuck in her private space.”
Rescue worker Chaim Otmazgin said that after the massacre by terrorists from Hamas and other groups, he also found several dead women with their bellies exposed in other places.
The worst massacre in history
On October 7, Hamas terrorists from the Gaza Strip committed the worst massacre in Israel’s history near the border. More than 1,200 people were killed. About 240 hostages have been abducted to Gaza and less than half have been released so far. The reports of highly sadistic violence on the day of the massacre are also fueling concern among young women who remain under the control of the terrorist organization and whose release Hamas has so far refused to release.
A paramedic said he found a 14-year-old girl raped and murdered in a house on Kibbutz Be’eri. She lay on the floor of her bedroom, with her bare stomach, her legs spread and traces of cum on her back. The teen was shot in the head.

Israeli police launched an investigation on October 7 into reports of mass sexual crimes against women. An independent committee of experts also collects eyewitness accounts, forensic and other evidence. The terrorists from Hamas and other groups had self-documented many of their atrocities with body cameras, some of which were broadcast live on social media and also on the victims’ cell phones.
Police officer Shelly Harush told a parliamentary committee meeting that about 1,500 witness statements about the incidents have been collected so far. “The investigation also focuses on sexual offenses against the victims.” Arrested Hamas terrorists said during interrogation that they had also been ordered to rape women.
According to police, there are several eyewitness accounts of rape by terrorists at the Nova music festival in Re’im on October 7. One survivor reported an “apocalypse of corpses.” He saw many young women without clothes, some mutilated, some with mutilated bellies.
On Twitter, women read out the accounts of surviving witnesses to the inhumanely gruesome rapes under the hashtags #BelieveIsraeliWomen and #NoExcuse.Sh
Shani Louk and Naama Levy
A participant who hid in the bushes from the killers reported horrific acts of violence against a young woman. “They bent her over and I realized they were raping her one by one. It was then passed to another man wearing a uniform,” the eyewitness said. “She was still alive when she was raped. He pulled her by the hair and shot her in the head while raping her. He didn’t even pull up his pants. They cut off her breast and played with it in the street.”
Eyewitnesses reported that women were raped next to the bodies of their friends. Some were subsequently killed, others were deported to Gaza. A video distributed by terrorists showed the kidnapping of 19-year-old Israeli Naama Levy, with her pants soaked in blood. Another video showed the lifeless body of German Shani Louk being taken to the Gaza Strip in a pickup truck.
After the massacre, many of the bodies were taken to the military rabbinate near Tel Aviv for identification. A pathologist, a dentist and a military photographer were present. A volunteer told of terribly abused women’s bodies being brought there.
A female soldier’s arms and legs were broken in many different places. The female victims were often shot once in the body and then very often in the head. “It was clearly all about mutilation,” she said.
The care provider reports many indications of sexual offenses. Some of the bodies were dressed in bloody underwear. Other employees reported bodies with mutilated genitals. Hand grenades were deposited in some corpses. “We had to run out quickly to get to safety.” Demolition experts were then called.
Complicating the evidence: In many cases, the bodies were in such poor condition that semen or DNA samples could not be collected.
Survivors traumatized
We also know from other wars that women were raped as a means of humiliation. However, atrocities of this scale and severity have never before been witnessed in Israel.
According to dpa, law professor Yifat Bitton said many of the survivors were deeply traumatized and not everyone could talk about their experiences. Sexual violence is still strongly associated with stigmatization and shame. “This is a new burden on the victims,” Bitton said. It may take a while for everyone to talk about their bad experiences.
Cochav Elkajam Levy, a law professor at the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, said of the October 7 incidents: “There can be no doubt that war crimes and crimes against humanity were committed.”
It is important to collect testimonies and evidence so that victims get justice. “We established the expert committee on the eighth day of the war, as more and more evidence of brutal crimes against women and children came to light,” says Levy. She emphasizes that gender-based violence is not just about sexual crimes. “Cutting out women’s organs, hiding a grenade in a woman’s body, killing a baby in front of its mother, or kidnapping mothers in front of their children, women and children – this is all gender-based violence.”
Numerous social media videos and videos from Hamas terrorists’ body cameras were also reviewed. A database and an archive will be created with all the material. “We want to ensure that the crimes committed against women on October 7 are never forgotten.” Many stories have been verified by multiple sources.
Several Israeli experts have been complaining for weeks about the lack of response from international women’s organizations. The silence of the UN women in particular has been criticized. Last week, women in bloody white pants and shirts protested in front of the UN in New York.
