Voluntary measure – The Vienna Medical Association recommends masks at ordinations

Date:

The Vienna Medical Association recommends that patients voluntarily wear an FFP2 mask at ordinations, especially in case of viral or febrile infections, feeling ill and diarrhea.

Vice President Kamaleyan-Schmied: “Please wear an FFP2 mask when you attend the ordination. This is the best way to protect yourself and others.”

Flu infections, Covid-19 and influenza are currently major challenges for the private sector.

A corresponding information letter about masks has already been sent to the doctors working in this area in Vienna. The practices are also provided with graphically drawn up action recommendations.

The number of infections is increasing rapidly
“We are heading for one of the highest Covid waves ever,” molecular biologist Ulrich Elling predicted in mid-November. With the onset of cold weather, this has been expected for a long time, so there is no need to be surprised.

Wear a mask where people gather
In view of the increasing cases of Corona and flu, Health Minister Johannes Rauch recently also advised people to wear masks again where many elderly or sick people gather. The Green Minister of Health also appealed to take advantage of the free corona vaccination. However, this is a “voluntary measure”.

No longer required to report
Symptoms include fever, cough, sore throat, difficulty breathing, loss of smell and taste, and body aches. But there are also asymptomatic forms. Since July 1, Covid is no longer a reportable disease in Austria. More than six million cases have been reported to date, with the peak occurring in March 2022.
