Advent, the time of reflection and harmony – apparently not everywhere. In St. Aegidi in the Innviertel (Upper Austria), a family quarrel escalated until blood was spilled. A 76-year-old hunter stabbed his son-in-law with a knife. Because the 76-year-old owns several weapons, the Cobra task force was also warned.
A family feud in St. Aegidi, which had apparently been simmering for a long time, reached its climax shortly before 7 p.m. on Monday. After a heated argument, a 76-year-old hunter stabbed his daughter’s 48-year-old partner in the upper abdomen with a knife. The injured man then fled and contacted his partner, who eventually alerted police.
The negotiating group was also on site
Because the 76-year-old has multiple weapons, the Rapid Intervention Group (SIG) and the Cobra task force were also called in. With the help of police negotiators, the perpetrator was finally arrested around 8:30 p.m.
Four long guns found
On the orders of the Ried public prosecutor’s office, he was taken to prison and forbidden to enter or approach him. There was also a temporary weapons ban: four long guns were seized from his house. The injured 48-year-old was taken to hospital.
