When two cars collided with each other on the Pyhrnautobahn (A9) near Mautern in Styria, five were injured in early May. Now a driver from Upper Austria has passed away.
On May 4 at around 10:20 am, a 67-year-old from the Linz-Land district was driving his car on the A9 towards Graz. While overtaking, he lost control of the vehicle and collided with the car in front of him, which was also driven by a 67-year-old from the Hartberg-Fürstenfeld district.
Both vehicles skidded, the Upper Austrian’s car hit the guardrail and came to a stop on an accompanying road. The driver and his 66-year-old passenger were trapped in the vehicle and had to be extricated by firefighters. The East Styrian and his two passengers (68 and 77 years old) were also injured.
As the Styrian police announced on Tuesday, the 67-year-old from the Linz-Land district has since succumbed to his serious injuries.
