The school is Robb Elementary in Uvalde west of the city of San Antonio. Shortly after noon (local time), an “active gunman was there,” the TV channel CNN reported, citing school authorities. The gunman is an 18-year-old man from Uvalde, Texas, Governor Abbott said.
The gunman caused a massacre: at least 15 people were killed. Initially, two children were shot and the situation was unclear. Some people would have been taken to hospitals.
