Activists in Vienna again occupied a construction site on the controversial city highway on Wednesday morning. About 100 participants took part, according to the movement. A protest camp on the site was not cleared by police until February.
The activists started a protest march from the still existing Lobau camp towards the construction site.
Shortly after 7 a.m., the participants arrived at the construction site and climbed onto transporters and containers, according to recordings on Twitter.
The activists are still demanding an immediate halt to the construction of the city highway. “The construction of the city autobahn must provide facts for the Lobau autobahn. If the city autobahn comes, Lobau is not safe either!”, says Lena Schilling, spokeswoman for LobauBleibt, via broadcast.
