A 30-year-old ice climber from the Klagenfurt district was seriously injured on Sunday afternoon at the “Mittler Maralmfall” near Malta. Fortunately, her partner was able to help her.
The woman (30) and her climbing partner of the same age, also from the Klagenfurt district, climbed into the ice climbing fall “Mittlerer Maralmfall” around 12 noon. After the man in front climbed a piece of rope, the woman followed, but after a few meters her foot slipped and she had to support her weight with the steep ice device anchored in the ice.
The 30-year-old suffered serious injuries to her shoulder. Her climbing partner was able to rappel the injured person several meters to the entrance and alerted rescuers. With the support of the Lieser/Maltatal mountain rescue service, the woman from Klagenfurt was eventually able to descend independently to a nearby road and, after receiving initial care, was taken by the rescue team to the Spittal/Drau hospital.
