Final verdict: eight months in prison after an accident with two fatalities

Date:

Just a few hours after passing his driving test, a then 17-year-old caused a terrible accident in Altenberg. Two people died. The young man was sentenced on Tuesday by the Linz Regional Court to eight months in prison, two of which were unconditional.

It happened on June 12 this year, 10:10 p.m.: A few hours after successfully passing the driving test, the 17-year-old boy from Kirchschlag lost control of his father’s Toyota Corolla. There are two girls in the car and the car crashes into the oncoming VW Passat driven by Benjamin L. (36) from Hellmonsödt.

Girlfriend dead
One of his passengers (16) and Benjamin L. died at the scene of the accident. The young man survived with serious injuries. He appeared in court on Tuesday and made a full confession.

Traveling way too fast
“I don’t know how fast I was going,” he says. However, according to the report, he was driving far too fast, at a speed of 120 km/h. He then lost control of the car.

“I feel terrible for the relatives. I would like to reverse it,” the defendant said. The murdered girl’s parents still can’t talk to him.

The sentence: eight months, two of which were severe. The judgment is final. However, his sentence was postponed for a year, forcing him to complete ten missions in the ‘close to’ prevention project. He has to tell his story in the presence of student drivers.
