Dangerous scenes played out on Vienna’s Mariahilfer Strasse on Tuesday afternoon. A drunkard rioted in the well-known shopping street and also had his four-legged friend with him, who is a thrush. The animal was – although required by law – not on a leash or muzzled. During the police action, an acquaintance of the dog owner became involved.
When the police arrived at the scene around 6:15 pm, the officers noticed that the 25-year-old Ukrainian was heavily intoxicated. The man had his bull terrier with him. This is not allowed: intoxicated owners are not allowed to take list dogs into public places, the limit is a blood alcohol level of 0.5 per thousand or more.

In addition, the dog must be muzzled and on a leash, which the 25-year-old also ignored. Likewise, the young man was unable to provide a dog license. When the officers ordered the suspect to leash the dog, the four-legged friend bit through the leash, police said. The man behaved “extremely aggressively” and threatened officials with “clear gestures”.
The police took the dog from the 25-year-old because of the violations, leaving the suspect even more furious. He got so angry that the police took him to the hospital.

Meanwhile, an acquaintance of the man had also interfered with the operation. The 23-year-old was also aggressive towards officials and also blocked the ambulance, it said. She allegedly tried to injure one of the police officers with an umbrella. The suspect was subsequently reported.
