Tapia asks Siemens for transparency and full information towards employees

Siemens has made it clear to the Basque government that the workers are not the problem and the Basque government has shown its willingness “to cooperate and work to improve the situation”.

The Minister of Economic Development, Arantxa TapiaSiemens CEO Christian Bruch has asked “that there be transfer of” information transparency towards the workers”. In this sense, Tapia has assured that Bruch has transferred his will to do it, “because that’s how they do it in Germany”.

Tapia and Deputy Industry Minister Mikel Amudarain met Bruch in Bilbao during the director’s first visit to Bizkaia, where Siemens Gamesa is headquartered.

The Basque government has expressed to Bruch its willingness “to cooperate and work to improve the situation it currently has”.

The confidential counselor has stated that it has been “a cordial and very direct conversation, with candid messages”. In it, according to Tapia, Bruch passed on to him what he had already announced to the press, that “he does not have an exact plan and that his priority is stabilize the company financially“, with big losses last year.

According to the advisor, the CEO has affirmed that “the market is full of opportunities, but the company needs to be stabilized, and in this improvement in the management of the company, the employees are not the biggest problem they have.”

Likewise, according to the minister, Christian Bruch has informed the Basque government that in the company’s situation “the workers are not the problem”.

This week, commenting on Siemens’ bid for the 33% it still doesn’t have from its subsidiary Gamesa, Bruch “provisionally” ruled out the relocation of Siemens Gamesa’s Biscayan headquarters, as well as effects on the employment of its 4,700 employees. it has in Spain.

In addition to its headquarters in Zamudio, Siemens Gamesa has two factories in the Basque Country in Asteasu and Mungia, employing 423 people, and acquiring 30% of its statewide purchases from Basque suppliers.
