The well-known Viennese scene restorer Martin Ho was accused of fraud with Corona aid. He has always rejected that. The Public Prosecution Service has now closed the investigation.
The prominent local operator has been under investigation since March. The Vietnamese-born restaurateur, who became known as a friend of ex-ÖVP Chancellor Sebastian Kurz, was accused of raising too much Corona funding through false invoices.
The accusations covered the period March 2020 to February 2022. And they are now disappearing into thin air. The Vienna Public Prosecutor’s Office has closed the investigation. The reason given is: “Criminal conduct, in particular the intention to commit fraud, could not be substantiated with the certainty required for criminal prosecution due to the investigation procedure carried out.”
For Martin Ho, represented by lawyer Nikolaus Rast, this is good news after a long time. As reported, the highest court has revoked the permit for Ho’s disco “Hidden Club” on Mariahilfer Strasse. Neighbors had successfully complained about the noise. It is still unclear what will happen next in this case.
