A Watergate scandal at the highest level of European politics? Possibly contaminated water bottles have been distributed to employees and parliamentarians at the EU Parliament in Strasbourg – authorities’ checks are already underway.
“European Parliament staff and Members of the European Parliament have been asked not to drink from water bottles in EP buildings in Strasbourg,” a Parliament spokesperson said on Thursday.
“A number of people became ill”
The warning was issued after suspicions arose that there may have been contamination in water bottles distributed in Strasbourg. The responsible national authorities have been informed and appropriate checks are underway.
The Politico portal, citing an EU official, reported that a number of people fell ill – but have since recovered – after drinking bottled water.
