More than 100,000 people followed Brazilian influencer Maria Sofia Valim on Instagram alone. Her sudden death at the age of 19 shocked her loyal fans.
Maria’s family, friends and fans are in mourning. The 19-year-old urgently needed an organ transplant and received a new liver.
But her body did not accept the new organ. She eventually died after emergency surgery.
Just two days before her death, the family happily announced that a suitable donor had finally been found: “After following the legal procedures and joining the waiting list for a liver transplant, Sofia was able to find a donor due to the urgency of her case . ‘, her father said in a statement.
It continued: “In the morning (…) the operation was successfully carried out. However, we will continue to monitor for the next 48 hours so that we know if Sofia’s body accepts the new organ.” But unfortunately, her body fought back.
In a poignant message (see Instagram post below), the grieving father wrote: “It is with deep pain and sadness that I inform everyone of the passing of my beloved daughter Sofia. Unfortunately, her body did not survive. I thank everyone for the prayers and affection shown to me and my family in this moment of extreme suffering.”
Maria’s organs will be donated
Now Maria’s organs must be donated. “As everyone knows, she also donated her organs to create life and hope in others.” Her Instagram account is maintained by her family to “raise organ donation awareness and spread Christian messages of hope.”
