A 37-year-old Slovenian was sentenced to eight years in prison in Germany. After almost four years on the run, the handcuffs clicked for him in Villach.
Commissioner Random struck in Villach last Wednesday. During a routine identity check, officers encountered a 37-year-old Slovenian who was wanted on two European arrest warrants.
Escaped several years ago
“The man was sentenced to a total of eight years in prison for drug offenses in Germany in 2009 and 2018,” police said. In 2020, the man managed to escape from Germany during a therapy session and went into hiding in various EU countries.
“Now he wanted to find shelter in Villach and work,” said an official. The fugitive was arrested and taken to prison in Klagenfurt.
