After a woman died following a dog attack in Lower Austria, autopsy results are now available. According to the report, the 52-year-old succumbed to multiple organ failure. The bite wounds suffered were the cause of this and therefore the death, said Gudrun Bischof, spokeswoman for the Korneuburg Public Prosecution Service, on Friday. Further investigations are now being conducted.
According to Bishop, the animal owner’s 20-year-old daughter is still under investigation. The woman was actually supervising the attacking Rottweiler. There is a suspicion of murder by gross negligence and bodily harm by negligence.
The death of the 52-year-old was announced in mid-October. The Rottweiler attack dated July 26 and involved the woman and her two grandchildren. According to police, the dog ran from a garden in Wilfleinsdorf into the street, attacked the three and bit them several times.
The grandmother and two-year-old grandson were flown to hospitals, and a seven-year-old was also taken to hospital. The 52-year-old died on October 6.
According to media reports, the pooch’s owner was banned from keeping dogs after the attack. The Rottweiler ended up with an animal protection organization.
