70 percent of our beef cattle are kept on fully slatted floors. The “Association against Animal Factories” protested against this form of livestock farming on Thursday on the occasion of the upcoming meeting of the National Council for Parliament in Vienna.
Can you imagine sleeping on the bare floor? Just thinking about it is enough to cause joint pain. Unfortunately, this is a daily reality for the majority (70 percent) of livestock on Austrian fattening farms.
As early as 2008, a study at VetMeduni Vienna showed that 84 percent of animals suffer from painful joints. In addition, there are often huge injuries to the tips of their tails, because the animals step on each other in the narrow spaces of the pens.
Politics required
The sharp-edged bottom does the rest. These animals often find it difficult to get up, to lie down, to take every step. We call on politicians to finally put an end to this incredible animal cruelty!
