Excitement in the federal capital Vienna: a fire broke out in the city hall on Monday afternoon! The entire building then had to be evacuated. There was a large fire brigade presence (see video above).
As reporters from “Krone” reported, the fire broke out due to a technical defect in the transformer room. This eventually led to a power outage.
. “Those present were taken outside as a precaution,” said Lukas Schauer, spokesman for the Vienna Fire Department.
There were many emergency services on site. They were alerted shortly after 3 p.m. and employees were able to reenter the building around 4 p.m. Adjacent streets were also without power in the afternoon. The exact cause of the defect was initially unclear.
“There are no injuries. “Thank you to the Viennese emergency services who had the situation under control from the start,” tweeted Viennese Mayor Michael Ludwig (SPÖ).
