Russia’s highly praised Kinschal missile has now been fired at Ukraine for the first time since August. It is considered a ‘miracle weapon’ in the largest country in the world because it is difficult to intercept.
The British Ministry of Defense announced on Tuesday that the target of the missile (NATO code: AS-24 Killjoy) was likely a military airfield.
The Killjoy (killjoy) is intended for high-value and well-defended targets. NATO gave it this nickname because, according to the military alliance’s assessment, these missiles are virtually impossible to intercept with conventional air or missile defense systems.
“Invincible” system
In London it was now said that deployment of the hypersonic missile had been mixed so far. “Many launches likely missed their intended targets, and Ukraine also managed to intercept attacks from this supposedly “invincible” system,” the ministry said.
The British Ministry of Defense publishes daily information about the progress of the war since the start of the war against Ukraine in February 2022. Moscow accuses London of disinformation.
