After heavy storms on Tuesday evening, they returned to Styria on Wednesday: in Graz, for example, there was hail. A reader reporter captured the entire event on video. The weather should be much calmer for the next few days.
150 Styrian fire brigades called for the storm on Tuesday evening: there were flooded streets in Hartberg, numerous cellars in Turnau were flooded and an underground parking garage in Kapfenberg (we reported).
Heavy downpour and hail in the capital
Also on Wednesday afternoon it became clear that something was “brewing” in the air: heavy rain and hail fell in Graz and throughout the foothills of the Alps. “Everywhere where there was no crash on Tuesday,” says ZAMG Styria. But the weather moved on relatively quickly.
The outlook for the coming days is much calmer, it should be over for now: “The storm line is moving towards Slovenia. It will also cool down by the weekend.”
Strong hail also in Burgenland
Also on Wednesday there were heavy hail and rain showers in Burgenland (see video of Maria photo above). Numerous residents sought shelter under ledges and covered places. The storm is currently raging over Austria.
According to weather experts, the storm is expected to continue for the next few hours.
