“Bounty” offered – Brazen candle thieves make Advent dark

Date:

Parts of the Christmas tree lights have been stolen again in Himberg (Lower Austria). The local boss has now even offered a ‘bounty’ to obtain information about the still unknown perpetrators.

The anger in Himberg in the Bruck an der Leitha district is great, and the misunderstanding is probably even greater. Strangers have stolen electric candles from the Christmas trees in the central square and in front of the church several times in the 6,500-member community. “Because it is an electrical series circuit, the entire lighting chain fails,” says Mayor Ernst Wendl.

300 euro success bonus
The thefts not only cause extra costs, but also a dark Advent season. Because the tree at the church will no longer be burning for a while. “If the acts of vandalism in the central square are repeated, it will also remain dark,” Wendl announces. The incidents have been reported. Local boss Wendl is offering a success bonus of 300 euros for all information leading to the identification of the perpetrators.
