Animal operations for the fire brigade of Turnau (Styria) on December 24: A premature calf fell into a manure pit. A Floriani went down and saved the animal.
Only at second glance can you see the animal’s small head in the manure: the calf, which was born two weeks prematurely, fell through a crack into a cesspool, the Turnau volunteer fire brigade reported on Facebook.
One meter high manure
To get the animal out of there, a firefighter wearing breathing apparatus and a full protective suit had to climb down. The manure was about a meter high. There he tied the calf with a sling and rope so that it could be lifted out. It could be safely returned to the farmer.
After the operation, the animal’s rescuer was freed from the manure with a hose.
