Injured Bactrian camels – camels attacked by a dog from a circus in Mauthausen

Date:

Another bite attack from a stray dog. It is suspected that it could be a fighting dog. The owner of the four-legged friend fled after the incident. A total of four Bactrian camels and their owner were injured in the attack.

Four camels suffered minor leg injuries after being attacked by a dog at a circus in Mauthausen. However, the thick camel hair may have prevented something worse from happening. While the owner (23) of the Bactrian camels tried to chase away the unknown fighting dog, he injured his shin.

There was still no trace of the dog and its owner to be found on Tuesday. The dog owner is believed to have successfully fled after the incident. “Thank God this happened right after the show and we were quick,” said circus director Alex Kaiser.

In light of this incident, the ÖVP is now once again calling for a muzzle and leash requirement for fighting dogs in public spaces. “The attack shows once again that protection against fighting dogs must be improved. The most effective protection against bite attacks is and remains a muzzle for fighting dogs.”, said state manager Florian Hiegelsberger.
