Thousands of households in the Drau Valley were without power around noon on Wednesday. The reason for this: A paraglider got stuck with his paraglider in a high-voltage line, as a result of which the KNG-Kärnten Netz immediately initiated an emergency stop.
On Thursday around 11.15 am, KNG-Kärnten Netz GmbH received a message that a paraglider between Steinfeld and Oberdrauburg had become stuck in a high-voltage line. “After that we bypassed the emergency stop. About 4000 households were temporarily without power,” says department head Robert Schmaranz, adding: “When our employees arrived at the relevant 10 kV line, the paraglider was no longer to be found. He probably left the scene unharmed.”
No damage was done. Power was fully restored by 12:15 p.m.
