There are villages in Ukraine close to the war front where basic medical care is no longer available, where medical staff fled long ago – and yet there are still people alive who are sick and need regular medicine and treatment. It is helpers like the young Viennese Fabian Havlik of “Doctors Without Borders” who are also available to the population in such regions.
One thing is immediately noticeable about Fabian Havlik (34): he cannot keep a desk job. “I want to do something where I can really be there, where I can immediately see the impact of my work,” he says. And he is able to do this during his assignment as logistics manager at Doctors Without Borders, most recently in Ukraine.
