After thousands of police officers had to monitor New Year’s celebrations in the federal capital, the executive branch must move to the next big event the morning after. Traditionally, not only music lovers, but also heads of state come to the New Year’s concert of the Vienna Philharmonic in the Musikverein.
Maestro Christian Thielemann will conduct this year’s annual spectacle, which is taking place for the 84th time. The ORF broadcasts the images for the 66th time, while people from around 100 countries watch.
