A 37-year-old German gave his neighbor quite a fright on New Year’s Day! The man was standing on the balcony of an apartment on Tschamlerstrasse in Innsbruck and was shooting, according to the message the police received around 4:30 p.m. Afterwards, the supposedly real weapon turned out to be an empty pistol.
Apparently still euphoric because of the New Year’s Eve bang, an initially unknown man also wanted to start the new year with a bang. One local resident was understandably less happy about it. She heard the shots Monday around 4:30 p.m. and alerted police.

Several police patrols immediately rushed to the scene and cordoned off the area. The officers also noticed more shots fired. “Ultimately, with the cooperation of Cobra and the Rapid Intervention Group, a 37-year-old German was arrested in an apartment,” the director said.
The weapon, a blank pistol, two crossbows and ammunition were seized. A temporary weapons ban was issued against the man. He is reportedly at large.
